What I Love About Auburn Textile Motif
This project is a celebration of Auburn’s rooted tradition, enduring spirit, and the quiet beauty found in everyday moments on campus. Inspired by a poem displayed in my department, a message written from the perspective of Auburn’s trees, I developed a textile motif that captures the feeling of walking beneath their steady presence each day. The design blends my personal view with iconic Auburn emblems, incorporating meaningful details such as the Samford Hall clock set to 8:56, symbolizing the university’s founding in 1856.
The Auburn Creed flows across the fabric swatches, grounding the design in shared values, while the phrase “I believe in Auburn and love it” appears in both directions, allowing the piece to function as both a scarf and a pocket square. Monochromatic and timeless colorways reinforce the piece’s versatility and emotional resonance.
This project was created using Optitex 3D for digital garment visualization and Adobe Illustrator for motif and layout development, blending technical skill with conceptual storytelling.
